Books by Guy R. McPherson

Only Love Remains

Only Love Remains: Dancing on the Edge of Extinction Guy McPherson describes how we can proceed with urgency in the face of habitat loss for our species. While describing the evidence underlying human extinction within a few years, McPherson also provides an urgent and reasoned response to this prognosis.

Walking Away from Empire:
A personal journey

The autobiographical story of a man who walked away from prestige, entitlement, and a lucrative career in academia to pursue a smaller, gentler footprint in the Gila wilderness.

Going Dark

We are the last individuals of our species on Earth. How shall we respond? How shall we act? If industrial civilization is maintained, climate change will cause human extinction in the near term.

Another Voice Crying in the Wilderness: My Homage to Edward Abbey

“In the spirit of Ed Abbey, Guy McPherson offers a set of aphorisms at once personal, wise and funny.

Killing the Natives

This new edition of “Killing the Natives,” critically evaluates the original edition published in 2004, McPherson’s book focused on cultural criticism. Nearly two decades of hindsight, along with the subsequent accumulation of evidence, allows for an important retrospective analysis.

Academic Pursuits: A Novel

Gary had the perfect job, the perfect wife, the perfect dog, indeed, it was the perfect life, and yet, somehow, he was making a perfect mess of it all. Being a high-ranking professor of journalism at his university put him in the awkward position of not only needing to know the truth but also to share it.
